Kimberly Ramirez and her daughter, Emily, have started a campaign to help raise funds to get automatic handicap accessible doors installed at Abilene High. You see, Emily is about to be a junior at AHS and also has cerebral palsy. Like other handicap students, Emily finds maneuvering the current doors difficult. After approaching AISD administrators, to no avail, Emily and her mother have launched a campaign to raise funds to get the doors installed.
The slogan of their campaign is "Keep Calm Install Handicap Doors" and according to their Facebook page the purpose is to:
raise funds and awareness that automatic handicap doors are needed in our schools here in Abilene, TX. Our goal is to present the school board by December with funds allocated to handicap doors to install these doors. Automatic handicap doors are very much needed in our schools for children with disabilities. These doors are also needed for injured faculty, athletes, and for visitors. Please help us get these doors installed. A bank account at First Financial Bank in Abilene, Judge Ely branch, has been setup for donations. All donations are tax deductible. T-shirts are being sold in a sapphire or safety pink with logo for $15.

Even though installing these doors will help Emily, I can assure you this is one of the most selfless acts I've ever witnessed. She truly wants this project to be beneficial for years to come.
