‘It Comes At Night’ Trailer: The Director of ‘Krisha’ Gets Spooky With Joel Edgerton
It’s fitting that the first trailer for It Comes At Night debuted on the same day as the trailer for Sofia Coppola’s The Beguiled — both are intriguing genre films from acclaimed directors who have a knack for distinctive visuals. But where Coppola’s film has a subtle element of horror, the new film from Trey Edward Shults looks downright horrific and pretty darn spooky.
‘The Beguiled’ Trailer: Colin Farrell Receives Some Strange Southern Hospitality
Well, would you look at that. Sofia Coppola went and made a proper genre film — transforming her signature dreamy style into something vaguely insidious in the first trailer for The Beguiled. A remake of the 1971 Clint Eastwood film (based on the 1966 novel of the same name), Coppola’s latest stars Colin Farrell as a wounded Union soldier who takes refuge at a southern boarding school headed by Nicole Kidman. And then things…take a turn.
‘Sandy Wexler’ Trailer: Adam Sandler Returns to 1994, Which Is the Last Time You Probably Liked Adam Sandler
If you didn’t like The Ridiculous 6 or The Do-Over, don’t worry — Netflix isn’t giving up just yet. The streaming service is determined to make you love Adam Sandler again, and this time, they’re taking him back to 1994, which is probably the last time he was genuinely entertaining (OK, with the exception of The Wedding Singer). Yep, there’s another new Sandler movie coming to Netflix; behold, the first trailer for Sandy Wexler.
‘Logan’ Unveils ‘1974 Frames’ Site Offering Limited Edition Frames From the Final Trailer
Christmas may be over, but 20th Century Fox has a last minute gift for all you Wolverine fans: To commemorate the iconic hero’s original comic-book debut, the studio is giving away 1,974 frames from the upcoming final trailer for Logan. It’s a limited edition giveaway deal (obviously), but if you head to Logan’s new viral website and enter your info, you can receive a postcard with one of those 1,974 frames — to hang on your wall or send to a friend, or maybe shove in a shoebox with the keepsakes from your other exes.
UPDATED: ‘Arsenal’ Trailer: Did Nicolas Cage Really Make a ‘Deadfall’ Sequel? (He Did!)
At first glance, Arsenal looks like your average bonkers Nicolas Cage movie, if not slightly more emphatic than usual. But don’t let yourself be distracted by John Cusack’s do-rag and the sudden realization that Jonathon Schaech still exists — those things have been placed in the trailer to intentionally mislead you, for any true Cage fan will certainly recognize that Arsenal is not some basic VOD Cage Gone Wild experience; it is almost definitely a not-so-unofficial sequel to Cage’s forgotten 1993 film, Deadfall.
Watch the Trailer for ‘Mad Sheila,’ China’s Totally Bananas ‘Fury Road’ Rip-Off
What you are watching above is the trailer for Mad Sheila, a new Chinese film that is a blatant and very bonkers ripoff of Mad Max: Fury Road. Unfortunately, we have no idea when or if this delightful film is coming to America, but I’m going to go ahead and put forth the wild suggestion that you could very well find Mad Sheila lurking on a major city street sidewalk sometime in the near future, if you know what I mean.
Choose to Watch This ‘T2: Trainspotting’ International Trailer
Turns out, choosing life isn’t all that fun once you grow up and succumb to tedious responsibilities and the repetitive monotony of daily life. That’s a lesson Ewan McGregor’s Mark Renton appears to have learned in the 20 years between Trainspotting and Danny Boyle’s long-awaited sequel. As a little pre-Thanksgiving treat, Sony has released an international trailer for T2: Trainspotting, featuring a bit of new footage and plenty of new things from which to choose.
‘Passengers’ Trailer: How Upset Is James Cameron For Not Thinking of ‘Space Titanic’?
Somewhere, James Cameron is shaking his head and chuckling to himself, wondering why the heck he didn’t think of setting Titanic in space because it seems so obvious now — especially with this new trailer for Passengers, the Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence sci-fi romance that looks like it was made with an algorithm. Take the two most beloved actors on the planet, put them in a shiny, futuristic sci-fi movie and smoosh their faces together while making kissy noises. Cha-ching.
Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy Says Han Solo Spinoff Is a ‘Heist or Western,’ Confirms No ‘Rogue One’ Opening Crawl
Lucasfilm’s latest State of the Star Wars Union address has arrived right on schedule (meaning: It’s been about a month since their last blanket franchise update), with studio president Kathleen Kennedy offering a few tidbits about their upcoming anthology projects. In addition to confirming the absence of a traditional opening crawl for Rogue One, Kennedy sheds some light on Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s approach for the Han Solo spinoff.
Natalie Portman Makes Funeral Arrangements in the New ‘Jackie’ Trailer
Among the usual biopics and awards season fare, Jackie has emerged as an intriguing contender — an atypical biopic about one of America’s most famous tragedies, told from the perspective of our most iconic First Lady, and directed by a Chilean filmmaker (who has not one, but two biopics hitting theaters this December). Following its premiere at TIFF in September, Jackie immediately became one of our most anticipated films of this awards season, and this new trailer isn’t making us any less patient for its release.
‘Justice League’ Casts ‘Game of Thrones’ Star Ciaran Hinds as the Big Bad Steppenwolf
Just in case you were wondering: Yes, Justice League is fully committed to that whole wacky thing with the Mother Boxes and Steppenwolf — which, as you may recall, were part of that crazy Batman v Superman deleted scene featuring Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor. Although Zack Snyder recently wrapped filming on DC’s superhero ensemble, there’s one more piece of casting news to deliver: Ciaran Hinds has stepped into the role of Steppenwolf.
‘The LEGO Batman Movie’ Trailer: The Dark Knight Returns (Again)
Although just about every character in The LEGO Movie was delightful enough to deserve their own spinoff, only one truly warranted it: Will Arnett’s hilariously narcissistic Batman. The new trailer for The LEGO Batman Movie expands on what made that character so great, functioning as both a loving sendup and amazing satire of the iconic superhero. It’s kind of perfect.
