Animals amaze me. They are more like humans than we sometimes realize. Take this love bird for example, she wants longer tail feathers. So she makes herself some out of strips of paper. The bird chews these perfect little strips of paper and places each one within her feathers; much like hair extensions for women. What is amazing to me is how exact the strips of paper are - no rulers needed here.

Watch the bird give herself new tail feathers.

So after a bit of research, I'm told that this is how the birds take nesting materials to their nesting spot. They generally use tree bark and not paper strips, but I guess whatever is available will work. They aren't really making themselves longer feathers. Pretty cool though, and it's fun to think they are dressing themselves up.
