Due to redistricting, the Texas primary election has been delayed (originally scheduled for March), but it is finally here. So get out and vote. Voting ends at 7pm tonight.

The Texas U.S. Senate seat is up for grabs, because Rep. Kay Bailey Hutchison isn’t seeking another term, in a hotly contested race between David Dewhurst, Ted Cruz, Craig James and Tom Leppert. Dewhurts, Cruz, James and Leppert are the Republican candidates for the seat while Addie Allen, Sean Hubbard, Paul Sadler, and Grady Yarbrough are those vying in the Democrat party.

More on the local level, Taylor County voters will go to the polls to vote for Sheriff, Justice of the Peace, and Precinct 2 Constable.

A common myth about the primary election is that if you vote a particular party in the primary election then that’s the party you have to vote in the general election. That is not true.

It doesn’t matter who you vote for, that’s your personal choice and freedom. Just exercise your right to vote.

The general election is November 6th.
