SHINee singer Kim Jong-hyun, known mononymously as Jonghyun, was laid to rest early Thursday (December 21) in Seoul.

During the procession, which began at the Asan Medical Center, the K-pop star's casket was carried by his bandmates as well as friends and fellow performers from the group Super Junior. His sister, leading the pallbearers, carried a photo of her late brother.

A private funeral for family and friends was held afterwards at an undisclosed location.

Meanwhile, thousands of heartbroken fans gathered in the hospital where Jonghyun's body was held.

Jonghyun died on Monday (December 18) following a reported battle with depression. He was found unconscious in an apartment in Seoul and was later pronounced dead after emergency responders brought him to a hospital.
