Just weeks after K-pop group LOONA and Canadian alt-pop star Grimes were linked up on Twitter thanks to enterprising fans eager for the two to work together, on Wednesday (May 30) LOONA sub-unit yyxy (read as "youth youth by young") debuted the video for "love4eva," their track featuring Grimes off the group's Beauty & the Beat EP.

While "love4eva" only seemingly (and, perhaps, disappointingly) features Grimes on a saccharine spoken word intro, her brief appearance on the track is no less welcome. But the girls of yyxy — Yves, Chuu, Go Won and Olivia Hye — shine all on their own, bringing a playful energy to the song's bouncy, swirling synth-pop production.

"The members of LOOΠΔ have been fans of Grimes," the K-pop group said in a statement. "Grimes influenced LOOΠΔ not just in musical aspects, but also in visual and emotional expressions among other things. It was a huge surprise to learn that Grimes had listened to LOOΠΔ's music. We were so excited! We decided to ask Grimes for a featuring verse on our new track, and when we finally got the audio files with Grimes' voices, we have never screamed longer or louder ever since the start of LOOΠΔ. The collaboration of Grimes and LOOΠΔ is the most unforgettable, super-exciting moment."

yyxy is the third sub-unit to debut from the broader 12-member LOONA group, which also includes LOONA 1/3 and LOONA Odd Eye Circle.

Grimes, meanwhile, is currently working on her fifth studio album, the follow-up to 2015's critically acclaimed Art Angels.

On May 12, Grimes shared some working titles from the upcoming album on social media, including, "so heavy I fell through the earth," "darq souls," "blaze forever like a useless star" and "nymphs at versailles."

She also said she wanted to "drop [a] song soon-ish," and asked fans if they would prefer a "super dark heavy ballad about fighting balrog in the center of earth that is a sex metaphor or a very not pg13 ethereal shadow of colossus demon nu metal song [about] insomnia."
