Mary J. Blige to Pay Ex $30,000 a Month
Mary J. Blige's most recent divorce proceedings have landed the singer quite a blow. She has to pay estranged husband Kendu Isaacs a whopping $30,000 a month in temporary spousal support.
According to Entertainment Tonight, Blige will additionally pay Isaacs $135,000 in $15,000 increments per month. The bill just keeps adding up, as attorney's fees and other costs outside of the spousal support and retroactive payment come to $100,000.
Blige, who had been married to Isaacs for almost 13 years, filed for divorce last July.
In an interview with Good Morning America in November, the hip-hop queen explained the reason behind her separation from Isaacs.
“The breaking point was when I kept asking over and over and over again for respect and to be respected,” Blige said. “And it just seemed like I was beating a dead horse. It seemed like I was talking to a wall. I just wasn’t getting it back so if I can’t get respect in the relationship, then I have to move on and save myself.”
Blige originally claimed there was a prenuptial agreement and sought to terminate the possibility of spousal support, but Isaacs contested the agreement was invalid.
