Last summer, Microsoft announced Project Scorpio, a new console within the Xbox family that would arrive in the fall of 2017.

This week, we got the first real details about the new console, which promises to be the strongest system available when it arrives. This is everything we know about Microsoft's next Xbox, Project Scorpio.

In an exclusive breakdown of the tech behind Project Scorpio, Eurogamer broke down just what all the hype was all about for Microsoft's next iteration of the popular Xbox console family. Though it still doesn't have a proper name --- you'll have to wait for E3 in June to learn that --- Project Scorpio has all the hardware to push console gaming into the 4K ultra HD era. While the Xbox One S and PlayStation 4 Pro do already provide HDR content (when available), neither presents games in fully native 4K resolution.

What we've learned so far is just a glimpse of what Project Scorpio will have to offer. Hardware details are great, but they'll end up being relatively meaningless if there aren't great first-party games to take advantage of the power inside Scorpio. Microsoft is still keeping the design, price and actual name top secret, but at least we know a bit more about what to expect.

Now we just have to wait until June to see Project Scorpio in action ourselves at Microsoft's E3 press conference. Good thing we'll be out there to give you a first hand report in a few months.
