The Big Country skies will be lit up in celebration of Independence Day this year. Most communities are including the light shows as part of hometown celebrations, and promise to be worth your time. Here's a list of places you can go to celebrate the 4th of July with fireworks shows and celebrations in and around Abilene and the Big Country.

  • Abilene

    July 4th at Elmdale Airpark

    This year, the Wes Tex Connect fireworks show will be at Elmdale Airpark, which is just northeast of Abilene. General admission parking and tailgating will be available for $10 per vehicle. You can also get V.I.P. passes for $20 for adults, $10 for children. A V.I.P. package is also available that includes dinner for four at 6:30 and a parking pass priced at $75. There will also be live entertainment this year from Austin based ‘The Crush’. Check out the link below for a map of Elmdale Park.

     

  • Breckenridge

    July 3rd at Hubbard Creek Lake

    The 'Boomfest Fireworks Show' will be be Friday, July 3rd from 6pm to 10:15 at Hubbard Creek Lake in Breckenridge. 'Music at the Rocks' will take place at City Park, featuring live music, vendors and more. You're encouraged to bring a lawn chair. Admission is $10 per car load, with half of the proceeds going to benefit the Wayland VFD. For driving directions and more info, check out the link below.

  • Cross Plains

    July 4th at Treadway Park

    The 4th of July celebration in Cross Plains will be at dusk at the Treadway Park, off Highway 36 near Highway 206. For more information, call the City of Cross Plains at (254) 725-6114.

  • Snyder

    July 4th at Memorial Towle Park

    The Snyder Chamber of Commercesponsors the annual 4th of July Celebration which features food, vendors and family activities. The fireworks are scheduled to go off at dusk on the night of the 4th.

  • Clyde

    July 3rd and 4th at Clyde Lake

    Clyde will host a two day Fourth of July event that will feature live bands, cook-offs, carnival rides and more Friday, July 3rd and Saturday, July 4th. There will be a fireworks display on both nights. Fore more on this event, check out their Facebook page below.
