As many of you know I'm an arts and crafts person. I love to do all kinds of crafts, coloring, scrapbooking, painting, drawing, knitting, jewelry making and on and on. My latest venture is refinishing and repurposing furniture and other items. My first project is my outdoor table and chairs.

We were given this set about 2 years ago and while it was in good condition it wasn't great. It was needing, what I thought, was a new coat of stain. I went to the store and bought all the supplies I would need. Brushes, sanding tools, stain etc. I get home and start sanding the table and come to find out, not all of it is wood. Although the chairs are wood, the table has a layer of particle board on top, so staining will not work!  On to Plan B; Painting!

By the way, I don't have electric sanders so I started this by hand. The table and one chair were sanded by me, completely by hand.

Enter the boyfriend with a novel idea. Find a friend with an electric sander we can borrow. (Until I decide this is something I want to continue doing for a while).

I re-sanded my first chair with the electric sander and will continue using it on the remaining three. Although this is a much faster, easier way to complete the task. I kind of felt like Jethro Gibbs (NCIS) sanding by hand. You can actually feel the progress in a much different way, a certain satisfaction I guess. Anyway. It's a work in progress so I will continue to update this when I hit phase 2. Painting.

I'm excited to see it completed myself. I already have future projects lined up once this one is completed.
