If you've ever wanted to be a part of reporting severe weather in the Big Country, now's your chance with spotter training classes from Skywarn.

Skywarn is a volunteer program that has more than 250,000 trained severe weather spotters. These spotters provide timely and accurate weather reports to their local National Weather Service office.

I have taken the course a few times myself and and it's not only informative but they make it easy to understand as well.

In the class you'll learn a variety of things:

  • Storm structures
  • tornadoes
  • Basics of thunderstorm development
  • Fundamentals of storm structure
  • Identifying potential severe weather features
  • Information to report
  • How to report information
  • Basic severe weather safety

So, if you have an interest in severe weather, you might think about taking this free class which will be Saturay, February 23rd at the ACU campus (Hart Auditorium) from 9am to 12pm.
