Bookworms will feel right at home when the Abilene Public Library hosts the West Texas Book Festival September 19-24.

The 6-day festival will feature seminars, workshops, speeches, book signings and luncheon events taking place at the Abilene Public Library downtown, the Civic Center and other locations throughout town. It will also feature authors speaking at area schools.

The goals of the West Texas Book Festival include:

  • Promote Abilene as a tourist destination
  • Attract and recognize authors, publishers and readers from around Texas
  • Highlight the importance of reading and literacy throughout the community
  • Recognize local and area authors
  • Raise funds to benefit the Abilene Public Library
  • Increase awareness and support for library programs
