Not long ago we learned that Disney and Marvel had plans for a C-3PO prequel comic that would explain how the endearing droid got that red arm in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Episode VIII doesn’t arrive until 2017, so if you can’t wait that long to find out why C-3PO has a weird new appendage, Star Wars Special: C-3PO #1 has your answer. And although this first look at the upcoming comic doesn’t really shed any light on the matter, it does give you a nice sneak peek.

Disney and Marvel released a handful of images previewing the upcoming Star Wars Special issue (see more at Slashfilm), which was written by James Robinson with art by Tony Harris. As you can see in the images below, the artwork has a heavy metal vibe to it, almost literally with those severe, deep blacks against the more vibrant hues. It’s interesting, for sure:
