Come on out to meet some of the firefighters and athletes. One of the great things about this fundraiser is that all of the donations stay local and help support Special Olympic Athletes in the Big Country.

This brief video explains the history of the Special Olympics Texas Summer Games on its 50th anniversary in 2019.

One of the area's favorite fundraising events

Special Olympics Texas is a year-round movement that has more than 300 competitions annually. These competitions are held at the area, regional and state levels.

There are 6 state-wide events held every year. Summer Games, Equestrian, Sailing/Kayaking, Fall Classic, Winter Games, and flag football. Sports events also include bowling, roller skating, and table tennis. Each participant receives a medal or ribbon after their events.

Special Olympics Texas athletes train for 8 weeks prior to competition. Volunteer coaches who have to go through a certification program are then responsible for training the athletes. Officials and event directors are also responsible for going through prior training.

If you would like to become an athlete, you can download the entry form.

It's also easy and rewarding to get involved. If you're interested in becoming a volunteer, you can get all the details from the Special Olympics Texas website.
