Abilene's Chamber of Commerce is getting ready for its fall festivities. The Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting and Awards Celebration is Thursday, September 15th at the Abilene Convention Center at 1100 North 6th Street.

The Annual Awards Celebration is when the past achievements are celebrated, and they honor those who have helped shape the future of Abilene. Recognition is also given to outstanding achievements of businesses, community leaders, and organizations.

The Abilene Chambers Annual Awards Celebration is where the best of the best get to shine.

This is where the "Citizen of the Year" is honored and other awards are presented by the Chamber. The "Citizen of the Year" award has been given out every year since its inception back in 1946.

The Chamber's awards are presented for outstanding achievements of business community leaders, and organizations, as well as giving thanks to member companies, individuals, and volunteers.

The Chamber nomination process was completed on June 30th, 2022,

There are at least ten separate awards that are given out, they are:

"Chairman's Award" - This award goes to an individual who has excelled and gone above and beyond in their participation within the Chamber.

"Excellence in Agriculture Award" - This award is presented to an individual or business who has demonstrated exceptional devotion to the advancement of the agriculture industry in the Big Country area.

"Leadership Abilene Award" - This award is presented to a Leadership Abilene Alumni whose participation in Leadership Abilene has directly resulted in a commitment to the Chamber's mission and activities at an extraordinary level.

"Military Affairs Committee Award" - This award is presented to a Military Affairs Committee member who has shown exceptional selfless commitment to our local military heroes and their families while bridging the gap between Dyess and the Abilene community.

"Corporate Star Award" This award has been traditionally awarded at Business Expo. The Corporate Star Award recognizes a local business with 50 plus employees that go above and beyond for the Abilene community.

"Hispanic Business Council Champion Award" - This award is presented to a Company that has shown exceptional support to the Hispanic Business Council and its mission of building a bridge between Hispanic and non-Hispanic businesses and consumers.

"Redcoat of the Year" - This award is presented to an individual who goes above and beyond standard Redcoat duties of welcoming new and growing businesses to Abilene while enhancing the visibility of established businesses with ribbon cuttings and groundbreaking ceremonies and by celebrating anniversaries.

"Young Professional of the Year"  - This award strives to recognize the accomplishments of young professionals in Abilene by highlighting their advancement in their field, as well as their significant contributions to attracting, retaining, and engaging young professionals in the Abilene community.

"Nonprofit of the Year Award" - This prestigious award is presented to an organization that exemplifies best practices in nonprofit management while making a profound difference in the lives of citizens of Abilene. Source: The Abilene Chamber of Commerce.
