The Abilene United States Marine Corps and the Gypsy Motorcycle Club International Abilene Chapter are teaming up together to host a "Toys For Tots" toy drive and fun motorcycle run on Saturday, October 29th, 2022. everyone is invited to attend and participate to show their support for the less fortunate children of the big country as the gypsies try to ensure that every child in the key city has a great Christmas.

in 1947 United States Marine Corps Reservist Major Bill Hendricks began Toys for Tots after his wife had made a couple of handmade dolls and asked him to take them to some less fortunate children in their city, Los Angeles, California. When Major Hendricks returned home at the end of the day with the dolls and informed his wife that there was no organization to donate the dolls to that could ensure less fortunate children would receive them.

The first Toys for Tots benefit to distribute toys to the less fortunate began in Los Angeles California in 1947

It was the Majors' wife Diane Hendricks that was the inspiration and the brainchild behind Toys for Tots. Diane then instructed her husband to start an organization that would deliver toys at Christmas time to less fortunate children in and around the city. Thus Toys for Tots began in 1947 and in the very first year Major Hendricks and his Marines collected and delivered 5,000 toys to less fortunate children.

Today the Marines work with different civic groups, clubs, and organizations to collect and distribute toys around the holidays to the less fortunate children in the community nationwide. The Gypsy's Motorcycle Club International, Abilene Chapter is one of those clubs that has been collecting, distributing, and putting smiles on children's faces every year.
