Kelly Clarkson was the first winner of the American Idol competition in 2002. Her debut album was released the following year and has since sold almost 5 million copies and contained the hit 'Miss Independent'. She's now had a career in the music business for over 10 years and scored numerous #1 hits.

Clarkson hails from Ft. Worth and graduated from Burleson High School where she performed in musicals. She eventually won scholarships to 3 colleges but turned them down and decided to concentrate on her career.

She has also ventured outside of music and into movies and TV. She starred along side her AI alum Justin Guarini in From Justin to Kelly, she's appeared on Reba, Dharma & Greg, and as a mentor and judge on Duets and The Voice among others.

With the release of her third album Clarkson had become more confident with her writing; co-writing all of the tracks on the album My December. This album also brought controversy with her label, RCA, because she produced the album with her band and not professionals. Her talent manager and previous producers dropped her and the label refused to support the album with promotion. She eventually hired Narvel Blackstock (country artist Reba McEntire's husband)and Starstruck Management. The album went on to become a big success. It also led to her meeting her future husband, Brandon Blackstock (Narvel's son and Reba's stepson). The two married in 2013 and  welcomed a daughter earlier this year.

Six albums later Clarkson is still making great music and continues to further her artistry through TV, philanthropy and musical appearances around the world as well as sharing her talents and wisdom to up and coming artists. Her latest recordings are Christmas tunes from the album Wrapped in Red.
