2011 has been reported as the driest year on record to date and the second hottest year since the 1920′s. As I wrote about the “Worst Storms in Recent History” in July of 2011, number one on my list was drought, The National Climatic Data Center reported 2011 as the driest year in recorded history for Texas. So many people pass away every year, including in the entertainment industry, that it’s hard to remember just who died, beyond the few very famous people. Turner Classic Movies has a nice montage that helps us remember the talents we’ve lost in 2011.

In what came down to a battle between two best friends, Alyssa Campanella of Los Angeles, California was crowned Miss USA 2011 Sunday night at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, NV. The 21-year-old beauty beat out Miss Tennessee Ashley Durham to take the title, the 60th in the pageant’s long-running history.
