Last week my husband John and I went on a fast and furious trip to Missouri. We had a mini-reunion with some of his family. So, Not only did I learn a more about his family history, but also about American Pioneer history as well. The first leg of our trip started in Liberty, Missouri, just outside of Kansas City as this is where my husband's adoptive father was born and raised.
After making The Weather Channel's top 10 windiest cities list, Abilene is on another top list. In celebration of 40 years, Texas Highways magazine revealed their top 40 travel destinations in the Lone Star State, according to their readers.
Dripping Springs, Texas is the home of our Hidden Gem this week; The Hamilton Pool Preserve. The Reserve is a historic swimming hole which was designated a 'preserve' in 1990. A beautiful swimming hole in a surrounded by 50 ft. waterfalls, this is definitely a top spot for your 'must see' list.
The Lajitas Golf Resort is located in the far west Big Bend area of Texas. It's right on the border with Mexico and is an oasis in the middle of a desert. The beautiful lush green golf course can't be missed. However, it has other family friendly activities to offer as well.
Summer is here, the kids are out of school and it's time to do a little traveling. If you want to stay close to home Texas has some wonderful little places to visit. Such as the Blanco Lavender Festival in the Texas Hill Country. Not only will the scenery be beautiful but imagine the smell of lavender everywhere.
Everyone heads to the Guadalupe, Comal or Frio to float or tube the river. However, those rivers get really crowded and congested. In looking for a place for my family to visit, I ran across the Medina River. It looks beautiful and is much less crowded but just as much fun.
