The Paramount Theatre continues with its themed classics film series. Don't miss the classic 1986 film starring Matthew Broderick, whose role as the title character in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off"  got him nominated for a Golden Globe Best Actor award.

Enjoy all your favorite classic movies in the historic surroundings and under the star-lit ceiling of the Paramount Theatre located at 352 Cypress Street in downtown Abilene. Most all films are shown, typically on Friday, Saturday and some Sunday matinees.

"Ferris Bueller's Day Off" will be shown on both Friday, May 14, and Saturday, May 15 at 7:30 PM. Broderick, aka Ferris Bueller, is a high-school slacker who skips class in exchange for a day of taking in the sights and sounds of Chicago. The film also starred Mia Sara and Alan Ruck.

This was a Paramount Pictures release that became one of the top money-making films for Paramount, taking in over $70 million as a film the company only invested $5 million in. In 2014, "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" was selected by the National Film Registry to be nationally preserved by the Library of Congress for being a, "culturally, historically and aesthetically correct and significant film in the United States."

This fun (and funny) film will come to life under the starlit ceilings of the historic Paramount Theatre. Tickets are $7 general admission and $6 for seniors and military, and you MUST get them in advance online at AbileneThundrTix.com due to limited capacity.

As with most venues in Abilene and around the Big Country, CDC guidelines are still being followed.

The Paramount Theatre has just updated their coronavirus statement saying: "We want patrons to feel welcome and to have a fun and safe experience at the Theatre. Please see below the safeguards and limits we are following to ensure that both patrons and staff are as protected as possible during this transitional period.
